He had recently stepped away from a busy full-time chief financial officer position in the learning and development sector into a part-time role in a local chartered accountancy practice with the intention of dedicating more of his time to volunteer work.

And that is where Friends of Roxburghe House came in.

A former colleague of Ian - Audrey Adams, who instigated the cuddle-bed fundraising initiative - suggested his eminent suitability to Friends chairman Barbara Manson.

As the previous treasurer Peter Clark had announced he was planning to retire and with Ian’s impressive financial resume in mind, it was a timely introduction and Ian was appointed to the position at last year’s AGM.
