Friends came together for the official business of the charity’s AGM at Fountainhall Church Centre last week (March 20).
Treasurer Ian Mackie looked back on his first year in office with a colourful overview of activities and fundraising. He made the point that the activities are as important as the finances, especially as it’s back to business as usual following the suspension of various services during the pandemic.
He did however give an update on the figures, with substantial investments being made in medical equipment such as motorised recliner chairs and funding the refurbishment of the cofffee bar and reception area. The finances were still in a healthy state however.
Senior staff nurse Fiona Weir then gave an update from Roxburghe House, with an overview of patient numbers and length of admission.
The day unit is also receiving good feedback for its innovative 12-week programme. It also underlines the success of the ArtRoom project, with 90% of last year’s patients taking part.
Hospital chaplain Duncan Vickers (pictured above with Fiona) addressed the audience with his take on spirituality, and how it affects every patient’s ponderings on who they are and the part they play in the world.
All the board members were re-elected, with the exception of Billy Gordon who stood down and secretary Helen Rennie who was retiring after many years of dedicated service. Board member Ryan Fox has stepped into her shoes in the position as secretary.
