The September sunshine shone on a Roxburghe House celebration of 20 years on its city site earlier this month.
Consultant Dr Frances MacIvor said a few words, recalling her own experience of Roxburghe House and the welcoming atmosphere from when she first set foot in the building.
“When many patients come to Roxburghe House, they're frightened, vulnerable, and maybe angry. They're probably sad,” she said.
“What's provided here is patient-centred, individually tailored holistic care, that is delivered in an environment where the person feels safe and listened to. We can help them align their hopes and expectations with the reality of their situation. And that's often when people find peace.”
She thanked every member of the Roxburghe House extended family for the “energy, care, kindness and compassion that they bring with them”.
She also thanked Friends of Roxburghe House for organising and funding the celebration as well as the volunteers that give their time so generously.
Dr Tim Morgan was in attendance, and helped with the cutting of the cake by team members Diane, Fiona and June - all of whom were working at Roxburghe House during the move in 2004.
A picture display illustrating the history of the facility included a photgraph of Dr Morgan with Denis Law who was there at the official opening of Roxburghe House at Foresterhill.
