Lyric promises to rock you for Roxburghe

A partnership with heart

This year’s selection carries a deeply personal meaning for the cast. The charity was nominated by a society member whose late father received care at Roxburghe House. This connection has inspired the entire company to rally behind the cause, making the vital work of the specialist palliative care unit is highlighted throughout the production.

“The charity was nominated by a member of our cast whose late father received care from Roxburghe House last year,” says Brooke Smith from Lyric Musical Society.

“This personal connection makes the partnership particularly meaningful to us, and we are proud to support the vital work you do.”

Fundraising is already in full swing

While the curtain does not rise until June, the fundraising has already started. The cast recently held a Pancake Day fundraiser during rehearsals to kickstart their JustGiving total.

The wonderful Eileen volunteered her time and pancake-making skills and tossed it out of the pan, raising £118.66 on the night.

Members – including Eileen - have already been spotted sporting Friends T-shirts as they perfect their choreography and vocals for the show.

During the performance week at His Majesty’s Theatre, audiences will have the chance to contribute via bucket collections at the end of each show. Programmes will also feature a dedicated QR code to make donating as simple as possible for theatregoers.

With a cast of talented local performers, We Will Rock You - the smash hit musical by Ben Elton - promises to be a spectacular tribute to the hits of Queen while raising essential funds for patient comfort and support at Roxburghe House.

Set in a dystopian future where live music is banned, We Will Rock You follows a group of rebellious youths fighting to restore rock ‘n’ roll and individuality.

There is a split cast this year with lead characters Galileo being played by Alex Donelly and Mikey Innes, and Scaramouche played by Emmah Chibesakunda and Hannah Davidson.
