Leading law firm donation celebrates team’s fundraising

Two years of corporate fundraising by leading legal and estate agency firm Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace paid dividends for Roxburghe House.

The long-established law firm raised an astonishing £25,600 between January 2018 and December 2019 by participating in a wide range of fundraising activities.

With lockdown limiting access to the unit, the team were glad to get the opportunity to pop in to Roxburghe House to make the donation and get a short tour from the Friends.

Bikes, bakes and barbecues

The team had shown off their sporting side by taking part in the Kiltwalk, the Aberdeen Great Run, the Beast Race, and both the Baker Hughes and Balmoral 10ks.

They also organised a branch cycle, where the team took part in a 75-mile cycle around its branch network. Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace operates from a head office in Albyn Place in Aberdeen, a property office in the City’s Union Street and branches in Stonehaven, Ellon, Inverurie and Banchory.

Over two days in the summer of 2019, the team of nine cyclists started at the firm’s main office in Aberdeen, travelling first to Stonehaven and then up to Banchory across the Slug Road. On the second day, the team cycled from Banchory to Inverurie and then on to the final branch in Ellon, clocking up approximately 75 miles over the weekend in challenging, hot conditions.

The various sporting activities raised over £5,000, but more relaxing pastimes were also celebrated. The team organised barbecues, Burns suppers and bake offs as well as holding seasonal events such as Hallow-ine and Christmas jumper day.

The annual bake off let colleagues across the offices wow fellow staff with delicious nut roulade, lemon meringue slices, tempting chocolate fudge cake, mouthwatering apple pie and chocolate and raspberry mousse cake.

Testament to team spirit

Chairman of Friends of Roxburghe House Barbara Manson said: “This is a hugely generous donation, and testament to the team spirit at Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace.

“We were delighted to welcome members of the charity committee to the facility and express our gratitude in person. The donation will let us carry on in our work to improve the quality of life in Roxburghe House.”

Partner and charity committee lead Heather Stephen said: “Our firm has always been passionate about supporting local charities especially where even a small amount of money can immediately make a significant difference.

“Some of our staff have witnessed first hand the excellent care that Roxburghe House delivers to patients and to their families and it is a cause that RCC&W are proud to support.

“My own mum was in Roxburghe House for a very short period of time but my family will be forever grateful for the care that she received whilst there.”

Managing partner Callum McDonald added: “Our aim as a firm is to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we work and live.

“I am delighted with the enthusiasm and commitment our staff show each year for training and taking part in events such as this and congratulate them on their achievements.”
