In loving memory of Donald

Donald James Stephen

27 March 1953 to 19 December 2021

Donald was a Culter lad, with three brothers and a sister. From a young age he had an interest in motorbikes and that was the start of a lifelong passion.

He spent 50 years with his wife Susan, and they had two children, John and Kim.

Donald was known for not taking life too seriously, making up words and embracing the Doric dialect.

He could also fix anything. Nothing even beat him, he literally turned his hand to anything and always completed things to the highest of standards.

He was a creature of habit, and had to have his cup of tea and biscuit at 10.30am and again at 3pm or prepare to be spoken about!

His love of a run on his bike with his friends was well known, and they often stopped somewhere for breakfast or a fine piece to have a gibber.

Donald was popular, because he was such a genuine, kind person who would have helped anyone with anything.

His final weeks at Roxburghe were tough for all the family but the staff there made all the difference. They kept his spirits up, joined in with his jokes and nicknames and helped to arrange a visit from his daughter’s puppy too.

The care and compassion shown by everyone at Roxburghe House to Donald and his family, will never be forgotten.
