Harbro Christmas lunch raises £45,000 for Roxburghe House

Shona lost her very short battle with cancer last April at Roxburghe House, surrounded by close family. A familiar face in the farming community, she had joined the Harbro team in Turriff nearly 31 years before and loved going out on farm with the sales team and attending shows. 

Inverurie mum Cara passed away at Roxburghe House in January 2024 aged 42, following a short and brave fight with bowel cancer.

A milestone for local giving

Since the inaugural lunch four years ago, Harbro and its supporters have raised more than £100,000 for charity. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the strong community spirit within the North-east farming industry and the hard work of the organisers at Harbro.

The success of the day was bolstered by a wide range of sponsors and local businesses who donated auction items and raffle prizes.  These included a mini truck donated by Norscot and DAF, a mini tractor donated by Ravenhill, a round of golf at Gleneagles, and executive stand tickets for a home game at Manchester United.

From catering by Harry Fraser to the festive atmosphere at Barra Castle, the event was a true celebration of local community.

Friends of Roxburghe House Grampian relies on donations to provide enhanced comforts and services for patients and their families.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed by this incredible donation from the team at Harbro and their customers,” said Friends treasurer Ian Mackie.

“To raise £45,000 in a single afternoon is a phenomenal achievement. These funds will make a tangible difference to the lives of those staying at the unit and we cannot thank the farming community enough for their continued kindness and support.”
