Education

There is an education unit with two seminar rooms and a small reference library at Roxburghe House. We offer informal courses for clinical staff caring for patients with palliative care needs. Over the past 10 years, we have run more than 1000 sessions. In addition, medical students regularly attend Roxburghe House for a week of Palliative Care teaching and they comment on the warm welcome they recieve from all staff.
Friends of Roxburghe House Grampian provides an educational scholarship fund for staff working at Roxburghe House to enable them to attend courses or relevant conferences/clinical visits. This fund has been extremely beneficial for professional development and the letters received by the Committee indicate how valuable this fund is for staff. Over 50 members of staff have now benefited from the Scholarship.
FoRHG has also supported the publication of the NHS Grampian Palliative and Supportive Care Plan through the Raymond Kelly fund. This document has provided staff across all care settings with a useful booklet to help guide them in the identification, assessment, care planning and review of palliative patients.
